From Skills to a Business
Congratulations on making it this far! Think about everything you can now create:
- Study Notes & Model Papers for students.
- Leaflets & Guides for farmers.
- Flyers & Menus for local shops.
- Viral Video scripts for social media.
- Resumes & Product Descriptions for global clients.
- Blog Posts & eBooks for passive income.
You have the products. Now, you need a **brand** and a **shopfront**. This module is about building your "digital headquarters" where customers can find you, trust you, and pay you.
Practical Project: Launch Your Mini-Business Today
This is the most important project of the entire course. We will build your business from the ground up in a few simple steps.
Step 1: Choose Your Niche & Brand Name
You can't be everything to everyone at the start. Pick ONE area to focus on. This makes your marketing much easier. A good brand name is simple and descriptive.
- Education Focus: "Success Hub Notes", "Kandy Exam Prep", "Jaffna Tutor's Helper".
- Local Business Focus: "[Your Name] Creative Media", "Galle Digital Designs", "Local Biz Boost".
- Freelance Writing Focus: "AI Wordcraft", "The Colombo Copywriter".
Action: Choose your focus and pick a name for your business.
Step 2: Create Your "Digital HQ" - A Professional Facebook Page
A Facebook Page is the fastest, easiest, and cheapest way to create a professional online presence.
- Create the Page: On Facebook, go to `Create > Page`. Enter your new brand name and choose a relevant category (e.g., 'Educational Consultant' or 'Marketing Agency').
- Design Your Branding in Canva: Open Canva. Create a simple logo for your Profile Picture (just text can look great!). Then, create a Cover Photo that visually showcases your services (e.g., a collage of a flyer, a note, and a screenshot of a social media post).
- Write Your 'About' Section with AI: Use this prompt in ChatGPT/Gemini:
The business creates high-quality, easy-to-understand study notes and model papers for O/L and A/L students in Sri Lanka.
The tone should be trustworthy and encouraging.
- Set Your Call-to-Action: Change the main button on your page to "Send WhatsApp Message" and connect it to your phone number. This is your main sales channel.
- Upload Your Portfolio: Create your first few posts by uploading the best work you created in the previous modules! Post the salon flyer, a sample of the study notes, the agriculture leaflet, etc. Now you have a real portfolio.
Your Sales Channel: Mastering WhatsApp Business
Once a customer finds you on Facebook, you need a professional way to handle their inquiry and take their money. Regular WhatsApp is good, but **WhatsApp Business** is a game-changer, and it's free.
- Professional Profile: It allows you to have a business name, opening hours, and a description.
- Automated Replies: Set up instant replies to greet new customers or let them know you're busy.
- Catalogs: This is the most powerful feature. You can create a "shop" inside WhatsApp, listing each of your products or services with a picture, description, and price. For example:
- Product: O/L Science Model Paper Pack
- Price: LKR 1,500
- Description: Includes 5 full model papers with marking schemes.
Your simple sales process: Customer sees your portfolio on Facebook → They click the button to message you on WhatsApp → You answer their questions and close the sale using your professional WhatsApp Business account.
Level Up: Your First FREE Website with Google Sites
While a Facebook page is enough to start making money, a dedicated website makes you look even more professional. The easiest and 100% free way to do this is with **Google Sites**.
You don't need any coding skills. It's a simple drag-and-drop builder. Your simple website should have 3 main pages:
- Home Page: A clear headline: "Professional Flyer Design for Small Businesses in Galle."
- Services / Portfolio Page: A gallery showing off all the great work you've created during this course.
- Contact Page: Your email, phone number, and a link to your Facebook page.
Think of this as your long-term project. Get your Facebook and WhatsApp running first to make sales, then build your Google Site to enhance your brand credibility.
