Egotechworld, trading as EgoTECH and registered as EGOTECHWORLD PVT LTD, is a fast-growing Sri Lankan software company with a unique mission: to democratize technology education and software development in South Asia. We operate egotechworld.com, a platform that brings together free Sinhala-language coding courses, downloadable source code projects, an AI-powered career tools hub, a job board, and a suite of IT services for businesses across Sri Lanka.
Our platform was built with a single guiding philosophy — technology should be accessible to everyone, regardless of language or financial background. We produce programming tutorials in Sinhala, one of the primary languages of Sri Lanka, ensuring that aspiring developers who are more comfortable learning in their mother tongue have the same access to high-quality technical education as anyone else in the world. From beginner HTML/CSS guides to advanced Django, Python, Docker, and AI integration tutorials, our content library spans the full spectrum of modern software development.
Beyond education, Egotechworld is a working software company. We deliver custom web applications, automation solutions, and digital transformation services to SMEs and startups in Sri Lanka. Our team — a mix of experienced developers and talented interns — handles real client projects while simultaneously building the next generation of platform features.
At Egotechworld, we primarily work with PHP and MySQL on the backend, with Python and Django for more complex application logic and data processing. Our frontends are built using Bootstrap, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with growing use of modern frameworks. We deploy with Docker and manage infrastructure on cloud hosting platforms. We actively integrate AI APIs — including Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude — into our products, and we use standard tools like Git for version control and VS Code as our primary IDE.
If you're someone who loves to build, experiment, and learn in public — Egotechworld is the right environment for you. Our open-source mindset means that much of what we build ends up published for the community, giving our team members significant public visibility for their work.
Egotechworld maintains an active online presence across multiple platforms. Our founder and team members regularly publish content on LinkedIn, where we have built a following of nearly 10,000 professionals in the Sri Lankan tech community. We also run active Facebook groups for Sri Lankan developers and a YouTube channel where we post coding tutorials, project walkthroughs, and tech career tips in both Sinhala and English.
This community-first approach is core to who we are. We're not just a company with employees — we're a movement of Sri Lankan tech enthusiasts who believe in sharing knowledge, supporting each other's careers, and building something bigger than any individual project.
Sri Lanka has an enormous pool of talented young developers, designers, and tech professionals — yet the local industry has historically struggled to provide enough high-quality opportunities for everyone to grow. Many skilled individuals end up working on generic outsourcing projects that do little for their long-term career development, or they leave the country entirely to pursue better opportunities abroad.
Egotechworld is part of a new wave of locally-grown tech companies that are changing this narrative. We are building products that matter to Sri Lankan users, in their language, addressing their specific needs. At the same time, we're creating a workplace where developers can build skills with globally-competitive technologies — AI, cloud, modern web frameworks — without having to look overseas for opportunities.
When you join EgoTECH, you're not just starting a job. You're joining a mission to make Sri Lanka a stronger, more self-sufficient player in the global technology industry.
We are actively looking for passionate, curious, and driven individuals to join our team. Explore our current openings below and find the role that fits you best.
We don't just look at your academic certificates or years of experience. We look for people who are curious, proactive, and genuinely passionate about technology. Here's what matters most to us when evaluating candidates:
Culture is not a foosball table or a fancy office — it's the way people treat each other every day, the standards we hold ourselves to, and the environment we collectively create. At Egotechworld, our culture is intentional, values-driven, and shaped by the realities of building a tech company in Sri Lanka.
We operate a learning platform — so it would be contradictory if we didn't practice what we preach. Every team member at Egotechworld is encouraged to dedicate time to learning new technologies, completing online courses, and experimenting with new tools. We provide free access to all courses on our platform, and we regularly share learning resources, tutorials, and insights within the team. When someone learns something new, they're encouraged to document it, write about it, or record a tutorial — contributing back to the community that supports us.
We hold occasional internal knowledge-sharing sessions where team members demonstrate new technologies they've been exploring. Whether it's a new JavaScript framework, a Docker optimization technique, or a clever AI prompt engineering strategy — sharing knowledge is celebrated and rewarded.
Egotechworld operates with a flat organizational structure. There are no unnecessary layers of management, and team members communicate directly with leadership. Everyone is encouraged to question processes, suggest improvements, and bring new ideas to the table. We believe that the best ideas can come from anyone on the team — whether they joined last week or have been with us for years.
We are transparent about our business goals, the challenges we face, and the strategies we're pursuing. Team members understand why we make the decisions we do, and they're involved in shaping those decisions wherever possible. This transparency builds trust, reduces ambiguity, and keeps everyone rowing in the same direction.
We are a company founded by someone who teaches at a school during the day and builds a software company in the evenings and weekends. We deeply understand the reality of juggling multiple responsibilities. That's why we offer flexible working arrangements that allow team members to contribute meaningfully without burning out.
Most of our roles are remote-friendly, meaning you can work from anywhere in Sri Lanka — or beyond. We care about outputs and quality, not hours logged. We use asynchronous communication tools and maintain clear documentation so that team members across different schedules can stay aligned and productive.
We also respect personal boundaries. When it's the weekend, it's the weekend. When someone is ill, we adjust and support. A sustainable pace over the long term is better than intense sprints followed by burnout and attrition.
We take active steps to recognize and celebrate contributions from all team members. Good work gets acknowledged — publicly on LinkedIn, in team channels, and through expanded responsibilities and opportunities. We believe in promoting from within, giving team members the chance to grow from intern-level contributors into lead roles as the company scales.
Career development at Egotechworld is also tied to portfolio building. Because much of our work is publicly visible — on the website, on GitHub, through LinkedIn posts — team members naturally build a strong professional portfolio over time. Our interns and junior team members have gone on to land full-time roles at other Sri Lankan and international tech companies, in part because of the real-world experience and visible portfolio they built with us.
We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, genders, ethnicities, and regions of Sri Lanka. Technology is for everyone, and so is a career in technology. We are committed to building a diverse team because we believe diversity of perspective leads to better products, more creative solutions, and a healthier work environment.
We are particularly focused on encouraging women and underrepresented groups in tech to apply. Sri Lanka has enormous untapped talent in these communities, and we want Egotechworld to be a company where everyone feels genuinely welcome and valued.
We've designed our hiring process to be fast, fair, and transparent. Here's exactly what to expect from the moment you apply.
Find a role that matches your skills and interests. Click "View & Apply" and complete the online application form with your details, skills, and portfolio links.
We review your application, portfolio, and the short skills assessment you complete as part of the form. We look at what you've built, not just what you know in theory.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a brief interview — usually via WhatsApp or a video call. We keep it conversational and focused on your experience and goals.
Successful candidates receive an offer and onboarding details. You'll be introduced to the team, given access to our systems, and get started on your first task within days.
If you're an IT undergraduate or recent graduate in Sri Lanka looking for real industry experience, the Egotechworld internship program is designed for you. Unlike many corporate internship programs where interns are given simple tasks with little exposure to real systems, our interns work alongside the core team on live production projects from day one.
Our interns contribute to a wide range of meaningful projects. Frontend interns work on redesigning and optimizing pages across egotechworld.com, building new features, and improving user experience. Backend interns work on PHP and Python modules, API integrations, and database optimizations. Design interns create graphics, UI mockups, and social media content. Marketing interns manage content calendars, write SEO blog posts, and run LinkedIn campaigns.
Every intern's work is reviewed, mentored, and published — meaning your contributions are publicly visible and attributable to you. This is significant for your future career. When you can point a future employer to a live page or feature and say "I built that," it carries far more weight than a generic internship certificate.
Our interns leave the program with a richer skill set, a stronger portfolio, professional references, and a genuine understanding of how a software startup operates from the inside. Many of our former interns have used their experience at Egotechworld as a springboard to land full-time positions at companies in Colombo and abroad, or to launch their own freelance businesses.
Beyond technical skills, you'll develop professional habits that last a lifetime: how to communicate clearly in a remote team, how to manage your time without constant supervision, how to give and receive constructive feedback, and how to navigate the realities of building software in the real world.
Our internship program is open to IT undergraduates from any Sri Lankan university or higher educational institution. We accept interns throughout the year, and the typical duration is three to six months, though this can be extended for outstanding contributors. Internships are currently unpaid but come with a formal letter of completion, a LinkedIn recommendation, and certificate of internship from EGOTECHWORLD PVT LTD.
We are actively working toward a paid internship model as the business scales, and we aim to offer stipends to strong performers in future intake cycles. If you're interested in joining as an intern, apply through any of the open position links above and mention "Internship Application" in your form.
